Modern large wind generators need regular servicing by specialists. This work involves inspection, small repairs and exchange of media (oil, fluids waste material etc.) A normal service may take from half a day by one or two operators up to several days depending on the cause of a repair. On land a service truck parked at the foot of the mast is used containing all necessary tooling and parts. At offshore wind generators the access of service operators to the mast , the provision of tools and repair parts and the provision/exchange of consumable media from vessels are problematic because of the risky dynamics sea conditions. OutSmart designed a solution to transport a dedicated service container by a standard offshore supply vessel (DP) to the mast and have it lifted from deck to the mast platform where it is attached and from then ready for use for the service operators. The vessel will pick up the container and personnel after the work has been completed. In such a manner the container can be used for the maintainance operations of a number of wind generators. The vessel is only involved in the transport delivery and pick upof containers and is free for other jobs once the container is attached to the mast. The service container will have its own lifting provisions and willld be self propelled. The maintainance container will then be independent of the choice of a certain vessel. The lower platform at the mast will be equipped with the lifting points and attachment provisions to receive and fix the container securely. Also access means will be necessary to enter the container from the platform floor. Depending on mast platform lay out several options are possible.
